Veterinary Specialty Center of Stockton opened the doors of its new hospital on August 24th, 2010. The practice was previously located in Manteca where it had thrived for 25 years as Animal Referral Center. The new location in Stockton was chosen to facilitate the development of a multi-specialty hospital to meet the growing veterinary needs of the San Joaquin valley.
Dr. Frey's practice is the only surgical specialty service available in Stockton on a daily basis. He was board certified in 1981, and performs orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and soft tissue surgery. His patients are cared for by a 24/7/365 staff.
Comprehensive radiologic services are also available. They include digital radiography, CT, and ultrasound exams. The CT is the only small animal unit in San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced counties. The ultrasound exams are performed by an independent imaging service from the bay area.
The Associated Veterinary Emergency Service moved from its previous location on Hammer Lane to VSC October 1, 2012. It provides emergency care to animals on weekdays from 6 pm to 8 am, on weekends from 6 pm Friday to 8 am Monday, and 24 hours on holidays. It is the only emergency service in San Joaquin County to have a veterinarian and staff on site throughout emergency hours.
